Fellowship Circles
Fellowship Circles are a program that started in Fall 2003. If you are
interested in joining a circle, contact the UUFA office.
The Basics
- Develop groups of 8-12 members
- Fellowship Circles will be open groups, always welcoming to new members
- There will be a facilitator and a co-facilitator in each group
- Fellowship Circles will meet at the church or in homes once or twice
a month for no more than 2 hours per session
- There will be a consistent format of Opening/Sharing/Topic Discussion/Closing
- Facilitators covenant to meet together with minister and one another
monthly for ongoing leadership development, check-in, and mutual support.
Our Goals
- Strengthen the relationships between members of the UUFA community
- Provide a valuable opportunity for spiritual exploration and growth
- Cultivate a sense of intimacy and community among our members and
friends
- Involve the UUFA people in significant mutual ministry and nurturance
- Promote reflective adult conversation about substantial issues
- Take responsibility for projects in the Fellowship and in the community
Some Sample Fellowship Circle Covenants
- Be aware that it is a gift to hear and be heard
- Maintain confidences within the group
- There are no right answers, only possibilities of a person's life
- Each person should have time to speak in the group
- Determine your own comfort levels of trust and sharing, and respect
decisions of others in this regard
- Reflections and insights are appropriate responses, advice and arguments
